I love the historical vibe of this place--super immersive and makes you feel like you're in historical China. The service here is pretty good and the waiters are helpful. We got two different broths the mushroom and the mild spicy beef tallow. The mushroom was yummy, but the spicy beef was a bit too mala for my taste. It was good for cooking the meats, but the vegetables soaked up too much of the oil. The veggie and meat options here are great--there's lots of options and the quality is good. Everything is super fresh and delicious. We also got the longan milk which comes hot and in a metal canteen. This drink was so good and is shareable with the table--highly recommend.

This place was pretty solid hot pot spot and you know it's going to me amazing when the wait is typically over an hour! I highly recommend going early and putting your name down and then exploring the area - there's a mall right next door and other things you can do to kill time as the wait times are pretty accurate. The hot pot broth is definitely spicy so beware! They will do their best to make it less spicy but it still packs on and you will find that they tend to add in a neutral broth throughout the meal! The meat quality is pretty good and the price is reasonable as well! They have a lot of great veggies available and you can be pretty full relatively quickly! Their sauce bar has a wide variety as well! I appreciated that they took out coats and put it in bags so that it shouldn't smell like hot pot and the staff was super attentive and sweet they would check up on us and I also really liked how we ordered the mushroom broth and also mushrooms for the hotpot and our server checked to make sure we wanted to order more because the brother already came with a good amount! That honesty was very appreciated! The restaurant has a good amount of seating and the decor is fun! If I'm ever around flushing and I have some time, I wouldn't mind going but it's not a place to build your schedule around!

Hot pot is literally the greatest invention of all time and ChongQing Lao Zao is probably one of the best places to have it at. I typically go for tomato broth at other hot pot places (Haidilao, Xiao Loong Kan) but it's a little too flavorful here. Instead, I looove the mushroom broth, which no other place has as good as here; it's so flavorful and aromatic, I always drink so much. I also love the selection of ingredients they have and how fresh everything seems. The two things I'm always sure to order (that I don't see at other places) are the potato glass noodles and the longan milk. The milk comes in a large canteen and is so deliciously soothing and perfect on a cold night. The interior is also worth mentioning for how stunning it is and the way it'll transport you to historical China.

Definitely make reservations for this spot because I went on a weekend and it was packed! They have 2 floors and when I went I had a party of 8 so we got lucky and sat in a corner "room". Food is super fresh here. Hands down had the best duck blood here and their handmade meatballs. They also have milky beef and organs! They also had some stuff that I haven't seen other hotpot spots have! They're known for their spicy hotpot broth but when I went we opted for the mixed pot! Would definitely get the spicy one next time to try!

This is one of my favorite hot pot places in NYC! It is one of the most authentic hot pot places that you can get, and I always make the trek to go. I love the inside of the restaurant because it looks like a little village in China. They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait over an hour. We usually put our names down and walk around downtown Flushing until we get a text that our table is ready. The service is also amazing and attention. Their menu has a huge range of different items for hot pot. If you like spicy mala broth, then this is definitely the place for you because it is so flavorful. There are also a range of other broths to try that are also good. This is a must try hot pot place in Flushing!

Chongqing Lao Zao is a must-visit for fans of spicy cuisine. The menu offers a solid range of fresh items for hotpot. The broth is the highlight--rich, savory, and packed with a spicy kick that really delivers. Whether you're a spice lover or someone who prefers milder flavors, there's a range of heat levels to choose from, and the staff are happy to help guide your selection. The service is friendly and efficient, though due to the restaurant's popularity, you can usually expect a bit of a wait. Thankfully, you can put your name on the waitlist in advance. This spot is especially cozy on a cold day when the hot broth warms you up and makes for a comforting meal. If you're looking for a flavorful, spicy dining experience in a lively setting, Chongqing Lao Zao is a great choice.

Delicious hotpot with unqiue dishes you can only get here! We ordered the milky beef and the spicy beef, but we did not get the 9 grid broth as it is hard to cook in such small boxes. The spicy beef looks very nice on picture, but I thought the added seasonings crusted up on the beef so eating it after boiling was a bit disruptive. It also had less flavor than I was expecting. The other dishes were standard and good. They give you a little bag to put your clothes in if you're worried about getting the hotpot smell on your clothes. The interior is decorated beautifully with a wooden waterwheel in the back.

ChongQing Lao Zao is KING. This spot takes me back to hot pot places in China, from the food, service, and decoration (check out the bathroom). We stopped by on a Friday evening without a reservation, but put our number down and wandered to get bubble tea. We were texted within ~20 min and browsed the menu for ~10 min before our party of 4 was seated. Complimentary peanuts to snack on before they whisked out items we ordered. Really, anything you order is gonna be good, although the milky beef was fine (milk supposed to tenderize the beef), but a fun experience regardless with the dry ice. Given, we weren't *starving* so we didn't order a ton, but ended up being around $30 per person.

This place is easily the hardest place in Flushing to get a table for hot pot and for good reason. It is the best hot pot restaurant in the area IMO and it's not particularly close. First, the decor is so well done, reminiscent of a quaint village in China which adds to the experience. The food here is really good. Soup bases are all excellent but my favorite is the tomato by far - it's tangy and just so savory. Meat quality is also excellent and I recommend both their milk beef and their yin yang beef for those that like spicy things. The service here is really really good. Attentive, courteous and they check for allergies. Prices here are also reasonable and in line with other restaurants in the area. The one bad thing about eating here is the wait. On a weekend, it is epic - 2 hours or more for a table of 4. My suggestion is to come in, drop your name on the waitlist and go walk around the neighborhood and maybe grab a snack. They'll text you when your table is ready. It's a hassle but honestly it's worth it (at least to me). Thumbs up.
